The Savings Banks’ Union (Säästöpankkiliitto) chose Thinking Portfolio when its goal was to gain a better understanding of the overall picture of the project portfolio and develop a more professional project model.

Several tools have been replaced by one transparent solution

Just a year ago, The Savings Banks’ Union’s project portfolio was managed with several different tools and PowerPoint-based reporting. As in many other organizations, The Savings Banks’ Union also needed an up-to-date and transparent view of the overall picture.

The Savings Banks’ Union’s project manager and Thinking Portfolio’s main user Petri Kekki was involved in the implementation of Thinking Portfolio’s Project Portfolio. The goal was to find a solution where the information is stored at once and in a quantity format. They wanted to have the information up-to-date and available to all roles.

Full points and hats off to Thinking Portfolio’s project team for the smoothness

When the decision to purchase the tool had been made, it was time to move on to the implementation project. It consisted of workshops with Thinking Portfolio consultants, in which the content and functionalities of the Project Portfolio were defined according to the data model.

“The workshops were effective! Thinking Portfolio’s project team must be given full points and hats off. All our requests and minor modifications were handled quickly and agilely”, says Petri.

The workshops were conducted in a hybrid model, partly at the customer’s office and partly remotely.

User experiences and ideas for further development are expected from the first months

After the implementation project, the portfolio is ready for use. It is expected that the information will be compiled in the same format for the new platform in the first months. Comparable information truly supports reporting and management.

“The implementation of the tool is mostly change management and communication,” Petri says and points out that whenever a new tool is introduced, it must be ensured that the data is collected with sufficient quality.

User experiences and further development needs are eagerly awaited. Next on the agenda are at least the development of the Idea Portfolio and integrations and improving the financial side of the portfolio.

“There are a lot of possibilities, we know that”, Petri says.

At Thinking Portfolio’s User Day, Petri paid attention to the development of Thinking Portfolio’s HUB platform, among other things.

“You can clearly see that user wishes have been taken forward at Thinking Portfolio. You can use the portfolio flexibly and make it work for you with very little customization”, says Petri.
