The HUB platform is constantly reflected in Thinking Portfolio’s communications, and no wonder – in 2022, around 50% of our clients’ portfolios had already been migrated to the new HUB platform. The HUB platform delivers significant benefits in portfolio management and efficiency, whether it’s a single portfolio or a multi-portfolio environment.
What is a HUB platform?
Thinking Portfolio has two platform models: the older ONE platform and the newer HUB multiportfolio platform. The HUB multi-portfolio environment means using multiple portfolios for decision making, management and communication. The platform has a single database on which different portfolios can be parameterised and their data models interconnected.
The development of the HUB platform took off in 2019, and by the end of 2022, around 50% of all portfolios had been migrated to the HUB platform.
Currently, all new portfolios are parameterised directly in the HUB environment. Our forecast and estimate is that by the end of 2023, around 80% of our clients’ portfolios will have been migrated to the HUB platform.
What does the move to a HUB platform enable?
More and more customers want to move their portfolios to the HUB platform. Here we have summarised the key benefits of the HUB platform:
- Centralised user management
- Centralised resource management allows for more user management than before and makes it more efficient to deploy and use more portfolios
- Centralised hourly entry allows you to enter hours for all portfolios in just one place
- Centralised task management (Kanban) brings visuality and ease of use to managing your own and project tasks
- Centralised risk management makes risks visible across portfolios
- Centralised reporting
- Centralised integrations on a HUB platform bring efficiency. A single interface can be used to transfer e.g. financial data or actual hours between background systems
The benefits of the platform continue to grow as it is constantly being developed and new functionalities are built.
What are the benefits of the HUB platform for single portfolio customers?
The benefits of the HUB platform start from the first portfolio. Resource portfolio and user management is a standard feature of the HUB. It not only saves time for main users and administrators, but also allows you to map user capabilities. This ensures that the right people are connected to the right roles and responsibilities. The HUB platform can be used to include descriptions of competencies. These could be certifications, language skills, industry expertise or product knowledge, for example.
On the platform, resource planning is role-based. This enables efficient use of resources and clear responsibilities. The HUB platform can be used to make line work reservations and record holidays, absences, and other deviations in working hours. This helps to anticipate resource overlaps and the time required for daily tasks.
Versatile hourly recording ensures the timeliness and accuracy of the records. The new mobile hourly recording also brings flexibility. In addition, Kanban brings efficiency and visibility to your work. With the HUB platform, the functionality of the portfolios can be easily extended with additional modules, which we will be happy to tell you more about.
How do I migrate from the ONE platform to the new HUB platform?
Existing portfolios can be moved to the HUB platform in two ways. When acquiring a new portfolio, existing portfolios are migrated to the HUB platform during deployment. The second option is to migrate the portfolio(s) to the HUB as a standard Thinking Portfolio migration, whereby consultants migrate the portfolios separately to the new platform. The existing portfolio will remain in use throughout the migration!
